An employee from the Lady Verdin Trust in Crewe and Nantwich will be at the Great British Care Awards in London later this month.

Dorothy Chennell (pictured) is nominated for her work in supporting adults with learning disabilities in Crewe and Nantwich.

Dorothy, director of training and development, won the Great North West Care Awards in Blackpool which secured her place at the national finals at Grosvenor Hotel on June 22.

The judges praised Dorothy as “truly inspirational” for spearheading the City & Guilds Personal Progress Awards, which enable people with learning disabilities to add to their skills for life.

Dorothy said: “I feel very honoured to have the chance to attend such a prestigious event.

“Winning at last year’s awards was a great accomplishment, but winning at the finals would be incredible.

“To be recognised as leading the way within the care industry, both personally and for the Trust as a whole, is wonderful.”

The Personal Progress Awards cover communication, independent living skills, reading and writing, mathematics, developing skills for the workplace and engaging with the community.

The Great British Care Awards, supported by the Department of Health, celebrates excellence in the social care industry and recognises those individuals who work in the sector throughout the UK.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
