Glen Mason, marathon runner

A Nantwich marathon runner told how he was lucky to be alive after competing in the ill-fated Boston Marathon.

Glen Mason had just finished the race when the two bomb blasts rocked the city centre, killing three and seriously injuring hundreds more.

And Glen (pictured), a civil servant, said the horrifying events that unfolded on Monday have made him more determined to run more marathons in the future.

He said on Twitter: “An 8 year old killed in the bombing of the Boston marathon. Difficult to take in that this could happen?

“Really terrible. I had already finished and was back at the hotel when they went off.

“Many thanks to everyone who has sent best wishes to me.

“Grateful your thoughts are with me. Shocking events and so sad for those killed/hurt.

“Really dreadful and completely unbelievable. I was very lucky not have been involved.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
