Nantwich police made 18 arrests as drunken youths marred the success of the town’s Jazz, Blues and Music Festival.
Officers also issued 13 section 27 orders against yobs, banning them from entering the town for specified periods.
Insp Dave Smithers, head of Nantwich Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said most of the offences were committed on Easter Sunday for public disorder linked to excessive alcohol.
“The arrests were all for minor offences such as drunk and disorderly, minor public order and a few breaches of the section 27s we handed out,” said Insp Smithers.
“There were a significant number of people in the town over the weekend, it was very busy, but most of the problems were on Sunday evening.”
Police had to temporarily close Swine Market and Welsh Row to traffic on Sunday as hundreds of people flooded between venues.
“Some people on Sunday had been drinking for a considerable amount of time, and as always there was a small minority who decided to cause trouble. They were quickly and promptly dealt with.
“On the whole the weekend was a success in terms of policing.”
Officers on foot, bikes and in cars were a constant presence around the town as 40,000 people flocked into Nantwich during the festival between Thursday March 28 and yesterday (April 1).
