Nantwich Town have shown the door to manager Jimmy Quinn after a poor run of results ended in a home defeat in the Doodson Cup.

The Dabbers’ 3-1 defeat to lower league Curzon Ashton was the last straw for the Weaver Stadium board.

In a statement released today, they said Quinn has left the club by mutual agreement with immediate effect.

“Unfortunately results this season, especially at home, have been very disappointing and well below the expectations of both the board and our supporters,” said chairman Jon Gold.

“We are extremely appreciative of the contribution that Jimmy has made to our club.

“I know the successes he and the team delivered last season, in qualifying for the first round proper of the FA Cup for the first time in the club’s history and also in winning the Cheshire Senior Cup will live long in the memory of every Nantwich Town supporter.

“But sadly this season’s results have failed to replicate this, or offer the stability needed for the future development and success of the club.”

Assistant manager Phil Staley will be asked to take charge of the first team on a temporary basis from tomorrow’s visit to Stocksbridge Park Steels until a successor is appointed.

Speculation is already rife on social media, with former favourite Michael Lennon, currently at league rivals Hednesford, among the names linked to the vacancy.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
