A knifeman threatened shop staff during a robbery at a South Cheshire store.

Police are hunting the offender who brandished the weapon in Owens General Store on Wistaston Road, Crewe, and demanded money.

The man took a quantity of notes and ran off, last spotted heading along Flag Lane towards Bateman’s Court.

The assistant was unharmed but left shaken.

Det Cons Andy Dixon said: “We are making extensive enquiries to trace the person responsible for this and would appeal to anyone who may have information to contact us.”

The knifeman is white, 5ft 9in to 5ft 10in, slim.

He had a local accent and was wearing a woollen knitted hooded top over his head, and grey Adidas bottoms.

The incident happened at 8.08pm on Friday March 1.
