Snow and ice warning from Cheshire Fire Service

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for parts of South Cheshire as heavy snow is set to hit the region.

Forecasters predict up to 15cm could fall in Cheshire tomorrow (January 18), with ice and strong winds also set to cause havoc.

Emergency services are warning people not to make non-essential journeys.

Road and rail services are likely to be badly disrupted.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire & Rescue said: “Make sure you are prepared for when the weather changes and the temperature drops.

“If you have to drive, check out our road safety advice, which will help you to plan your journey and drive safely.

“Be prepared in case the bad weather strikes in your area of Cheshire.”

A spokesman for the Met Office warned of a heavy band of snow spreading across Wales during Friday lasting through the afternoon and evening across much of Wales and the Midlands. Winds will strengthen, leading to drifting of lying snow.

An Amber warning has been issued for Cheshire, Shropshire, North Wales and parts of the Midlands.

“Accumulations of more than 5-10cm of snow will occur quite widely, with 15cm in some parts of the Amber area, falling within 3-6 hours,” the Met Office said.

“The public should be prepared for disruption, including altering travel plans.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
