Reggie app launch at Brine Leas - Graham Shapiro, Edward Timpson and Lee McQueen

A new mobile app designed to help teachers take class registers on the go, has been launched at Brine Leas School in Nantwich.

The app, called ‘Reggie’ and designed by local company GSD Communications, was launched by 2008 Apprentice winner Lee McQueen and Nantwich MP Edward Timpson.

‘Reggie’ is designed to allow teachers to take the student register anytime and anywhere.

It’s believed to be the first of its kind in the world, and can be used with an iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad.

Graham Shapiro, CEO and founder of GSD based on Welsh Row, said: “Reggie App is secure, portable attendance checking – online or offline.

“Keeping student data secure is a top priority for all schools. That’s why Reggie has been designed to meet tough Government standards of online security.

“A big thank you to Edward Timpson and Lee McQueen for taking the time to come along to the official launch of Reggie.

“It was a great afternoon and I cannot thank them enough for their kind comments and interaction with our guests.

“I really enjoyed having them along and will keep them informed of Reggie’ progress.”

Crewe & Nantwich MP Edward Timpson said: “It’s great a successful business like GSD, winners of so many industry prizes, base themselves in Crewe and Nantwich and that they are finding success.

“I’m sure Reggie will be of use to teachers up and down the country. I wish it the best of luck.”

Representatives from Schools, CAPITA Sims and The Francis House Children’s Hospice joined in to celebrate the launch.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
