A man has been charged with murder following the death of a man found with a stab wound in Wistaston Road, Crewe.

Paul Ward, 26, of Alton Street, Crewe, will appear before South Cheshire Magistrates tomorrow (January 7).

He is charged with the murder of a 27-year-old man after an incident on Friday night (January 4).

Police received a report of a local man having suffered a stab wound to his stomach.

The victim was taken by ambulance to North Staffordshire hospital in a critical condition. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he died in hospital yesterday afternoon (Saturday January 5).

Two men were initially arrested on Friday night as a result of police inquiries.

One of the men, a 27-year-old man from Crewe, was released without charge last night.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any relevant information, to make contact with Runcorn Police using the non emergency number, 101, and quoting incident number 773 of 4 January.
