Local Access Forum aims to improve countryside access for public

Nantwich residents could be recruited as advisers to Cheshire East Council on how to improve countryside access.

People with a passion and knowledge of footpaths and bridleways will be part of the new countryside group.

The Cheshire East Local Access Forum offers residents a chance to advise on improving access for activities such as walking, cycling and horse riding.

Cllr Rod Menlove, Cabinet member in charge of the environment, said: “We are fortunate enough to live in a beautiful rural area and the right of people to get out and enjoy the countryside is vitally important.

“This is why the forum is so important, and why I would encourage anyone who can give up a little of their time to apply for one of the posts.”

The forum aims to cover a range of interests and experiences, including recreational use, land management, the rural economy, nature conservation, health, transport, heritage and other matters.

Members will start and contribute to discussions about countryside access, and suggest solutions to problems they may face. The group meets four times a year.

Closing date for applications is 5pm on Friday February 8, with interviews held on Monday February 25.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
