Blyth FA Cup - Nantwich Town's Weaver Stadium, pre-season games, community football

Nantwich Town has been forced to postpone tonight’s prestigious commemoration match against a Manchester United XI.

Heavy rain with more forecast has left the Weaver Stadium pitch unplayable.

It’s a big blow to the club after officials at both clubs worked hard for weeks to arrange the game.

The match was to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the famous 23-0 Youth Cup defeat of the Dabbers by the Red Devils

Sir Alex Ferguson was due to send a team of United’s current young stars to take on Jimmy Quinn’s side in an eagerly-awaited clash.

And many former players from the original match were lined up to attend as special guests of honour.

There is no news yet if the game is to be re-arranged.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
