Mike Heywood

A village green in Nantwich is to be officially renamed in honour of a late council stalwart.

Willaston village green is to be called Mike Heywood Green in tribute to the former parish council chairman (pictured).

The plot of land on the corner of Moorfields and Wistaston Road will be named in a ceremony on Sunday September 30, at 2.30pm.

Mike, fondly known as “Mr Willaston”,  passed away in January 2011. He had been chairman of Willaston Parish Council for 12 years and also a scout leader.

A mosaic plaque, created by local artist Nancy Torr, will be unveiled by Mike`s widow, Judy.

Willaston and Rope Cllr Brian Silvester helped to fund the £1,200 mosaic with a fund-raising event in honour of his own 35 years’ service as a councillor.

Other funds were contributed by Willaston Scouts and the parish council.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
