Tom Dascombe, Race Horse Trainer at Manor House Stables

Nantwich racing fans could get a glimpse into footballer Michael Owen’s stables and training  site as part of a special charity event.

The Malpas-based Manor House Stables, co-owned by Owen and Andrew Black, is to stage an open morning in aid of St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice.

The hospice was selected by the Stables as their chosen charity and their first joint event on October 5.

Up to 100 guests will enjoy a conducted behind-the-scenes tour of the stables, watch horses in training on the gallops and even in the state-of-the-art equine swimming pool.

They will also meet and chat with leading racehorse trainer Tom Dascombe and learn about the running of a racing stables, before refreshments in the owner’s lounge overlooking the estate.

The 100 tickets were priced at just £10 each and sold out within a week, with all money going to the hospice.

Co-owner Michael Owen said: “It is important to us that Manor House Stables plays its part in the local community and we hope everyone enjoys their morning with us.

“We are delighted to help raise money for St Luke’s and it is great to see there is so much local interest in the stables.”

St Luke’s is an adult hospice that cares for people from Mid and South Cheshire suffering from cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.

Such has been the interest in the open morning, plans are already underway to run a similar event.

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
