Alex Walker, of Gateway Crewe, will box for Children in Need

A South Cheshire car dealer is swapping the showroom for a boxing ring when he fights for charity in Nantwich.

Alex Walker, of Peugeot’s Gateway Motor Company in Crewe, will fight in a white collar boxing match to raise money Children in Need.

The sales manager, who has no previous boxing experience, is undergoing a 13-week training regime priming him for battle in front of hundreds of spectators.

The event, sponsored by Funkin Fitness, will take place on Saturday September 29 at Gregory’s nightclub on Castle Street, Nantwich.

Six bouts will take place on the night and each participant will be weighed one week before the fight to find a suitable opponent.

Alex said: “I have thrown myself into an intense training regime, to prepare myself for fight night.

“Even though it’s a daunting experience, I am eager to raise as much money as I can for the charity.”

The dealership has been busy fundraising for the charity over the past three months and has raised over £1,000.

Alex added: “We have been overwhelmed by the goodwill of our sponsors and the support from our already loyal customers.

“The boxing match is just the start of our fundraising and we can’t wait to raise even more money for BBC Children in Need, to help make a difference in our local community.”

Tickets for the boxing event cost £30 and £15 will go straight to Children In Need.

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
