Brine Leas High School students in Nantwich are celebrating a milestone today as the first cohort of A level results were released.
Around 100 students at BL6 picked up their results as the first sixth form cohort in the school’s history.
Stunning results included 34% achieving A* and A grades, 58% with A* to B, and 85% achieving A* to C.
Nearly all students (95%) achieved at least three A levels or equivalent. All students achieved passes in at least two A levels.
Delighted students, staff and parents marvelled at the higher than expected set of results.
Many have secured their first choice university places at some of the most prestigious institutions across the UK, as well as in apprenticeships with top employers.
Amy Andrews secured a University of Edinburgh place to study Philosophy and Psychology after gaining 5 A*s.
Vicky Davies achieved 2 A*s, A and B, while Katie Gardiner is heading to Durham University to study Natural Sciences with 2 A*s and 2 As.
Rosie Campbell is off to University of London Institute in Paris to do French Studies with 3 As and a B.
Daniel Jones goes to Lancaster University (Physics) with 2 A*s and B, while Jonathan Parker is off to King’s College London (History) with an A*, A and 2 Bs.
Rachel Tomkinson has a place at University of Birmingham to study Mathematics with 3 As, while Harry Morris achieved 4 A passes.
Brine Leas headteacher Andrew Cliffe said: “These results make for excellent reading and even had we been open for five years I would have been delighted with them.
“There are so many individual success stories from students with a bundle of A* and A grades as well as those with Distinctions in BTecs.
“I am delighted that the students and staff exceeded our challenge targets and the future looks bright with AS results being even better than last year.”
The school still has a limited number of places available in Year 12 and 13 for those wishing to apply.
