A concert by South Cheshire George Formby Ukulele Society in Nantwich helped to raise more than £250 for Help For Heroes.

The money was raised when the Ukulele Society performed a concert in the Nantwich Civic Hall during last month’s Nantwich Jazz Blues and Music Festival.

It was presented by the society at their most recent performance in front of a packed audience in Wistaston Memorial Hall on May 25.

Alan Newton, of the Ukulele Society, presented the £250 cheque to Steve Pragnell, local Cheshire coordinator for Help for Heroes.

The Memorial Hall was  built to commemorate 16 Wistaston men who perished in World War II.

Steve said: “It is humbling that so many people have donated to Help for Heroes.

“If it wasn’t for the public generosity we wouldn’t exist. Every penny counts, so the total raised by the George Formby Society is very gratefully received.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
