Nantwich Cricket Club, Whitehouse Lane

Defending champions Nantwich suffered another setback in their quest for a third consecutive ECB Premier League title.

Nantwich slumped to a 41-run defeat away at Neston, their third reverse in the opening six fixtures.

Hosts Neston ran up 206 from their 53 overs with Luke Camden’s solid 52 the backbone of their innings.

Once again, Jimmy Warrington was the stand-out bowler in the Nantwich attack, returning figures of 5-73.

But it was Neston’s Chris Finegan who stole the show with the ball.

He turned up trumps with a return of 6-41 off 13 lethal overs, which saw the Dabbers slump to 165 all out from 43 overs.

Only Ray Doyle offered any strong resistance with a battling 60.

Nantwich have now recorded three defeats, two wins and a tie in their first six outings.

The five points for Andrew Newton’s team sees them in seventh place on 77 points – 40 behind early pace-setters Oxton.

Nantwich welcome Hyde CC to Whitehouse Lane this Saturday June 2.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
