Nantwich-based food distribution firm Boughey Distribution and its 600-strong workforce are operating around-the-clock to deliver food to retailers around the country.
The huge uplift in consumer demand caused by the Covid-19 crisis has seen a massive increase in deliveries over the last month.
The firm has added an 50 additional truck loads leaving its Wardle depot each day.
Boughey has contracts with many of the country’s big name supermarkets and food retailers.
Managing Director Keith Forster said the dedication and commitment of his team of staff has meant the company can continue to deliver in unprecedented times.
He added: “Although we’re not employing front-line key workers like the NHS, we do definitely have a team of key workers who are dedicated to ensuring we keep the country’s food supplies moving and into shops.
“We really couldn’t be more appreciative of the efforts made by the whole team here to deal with the exceptional circumstances we’re all experiencing.
“This includes our warehouse team and drivers working 24 hours a day, and the transport operations and customer service teams who ensure everything gets to the right place and at the right time.
“Everyone is pulling out all-the-stops so that we can continue to deliver for our customers.
“As with many businesses, we have put in place extensive safe-guarding and hygiene measures for all our staff to secure their well-being and these are working really well.
“We are very fortunate to have a very loyal team, 90% of whom live within a ten-mile radius of our headquarters.”
Boughey teams are currently fitting out its new 237,734 sq ft warehouse at Crewe Commercial Park which will be fully open later this month.
The new warehouse will increase the company’s storage capacity from 100,000 to 137,000 pallet spaces.
The facility has created 100 new warehouse, driving and administrative jobs.
