Apprentice Nantwich hairdresser Libby Maxfield is proving a cut above the rest when it comes to raising money for war heroes.

The 17-year-old, who works at Steven Burgin hair salon in Nantwich, is singing to clients to help raise cash for soldier welfare charities.

Her ‘angelic’ voice and self-penned tunes raised £300 for Help for Heroes when she went out busking with her guitar in Nantwich.

Now Libby, from Wistaston, is singing to clients in the Hospital Street salon to boost funds for the Royal British Legion.

A former Nantwich army cadet, she said: “I was 11 when Fusilier Lee Rigby was murdered and that’s never left me.

“Now the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings and Battle of Normandy has brought it home to me the enormous debt of gratitude we have to these heroes.”

Libby, a former pupil of St Thomas More School in Crewe, has applied to appear on the next series of The Voice.

Salon owner Steve Burgin said: “Our clients are lovely and have added extra money onto their bill to donate to the charity after hearing Libby sing.

“Many have likened her to Adele. She has the voice of an angel and heart of gold.”

The salon, founded in the year 2000, is one of the oldest in Nantwich and specialises in a bespoke experience for every customer.

Over the years it has been the training ground for many upcoming young stylists and winner of awards from Joico, the American hair products brand used in services.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
