A young Nantwich woman has triumphed in the first ever Combat Challenge female cage fighting bout.
Anya Hynes, of Wrenbury, was one of the stars of the show in Bradford when she took on and beat Nahida Khan in three tough rounds.
The 22-year-old, who works for Sainsbury’s in Nantwich, has been involved in martial arts for years after battling back from a childhood cancer.
She took up kickboxing nine years ago and moved into the rapidly growing sport of cage fighting two years ago where she has made a name for herself.
The Taekwando enthusiast won a silver medal in the British National Taekwando Championships in November 2011.
And she made her mark in the world of cage fighting by winning the first female Combat Challenge Cage Fighting Championship in Bradford on Friday (February 24).
Anya said she was absolutely thrilled with the split decision victory over Khan and is now looking for further cage fighting opportunities.
Sainsbury’s Nantwich spokesman Olwyn Payton said: “Anya never ceases to amaze all her colleagues. She trains continually and is totally dedicated to her sports.
“She is always looking for new challenges and is already preparing for the British National Taekwando Championships in December.”
