parking ticket machine (By Simon Clayson)

Nantwich drivers were warned today not to confront parking officers after one motorist was convicted in magistrates court.

Diquyen Trinh was fined and given penalty points for an attack on a Cheshire East Council parking enforcement officer in Crewe.

Trinh, from Stockport, knocked the officer down in his vehicle after receiving a parking ticket. The officer suffered a broken wrist and shoulder injuries.

Trinh, 39, was convicted at South Cheshire Magistrates of driving without due care and attention, leaving the scene of an accident and failing to report an accident.

He was given eight penalty points on his driving licence and fined £1,590 in fines and court costs.

Cheshire East Cllr Rod Menlove, cabinet member with responsibility for environmental services, said: “Attacks on members of Cheshire East Council staff are totally unacceptable.

“Verbal or physical abuse of those who are merely trying to carry out their duties for the council will not be tolerated.

“People who think it is acceptable to behave in such a manner should be under no illusion that we will contact the police and their actions will be dealt with as the law sees fit.

“All Cheshire East Council staff should be able to do their job in relative safety, without fear of this kind of behaviour from the public.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

  1. Choice = £60 fine for the ticket or 26 times as much and 8 penalty points for a violent protest. Interesting, not to say alarming, that there are people out there who choose the hard way, or, perhaps, who don’t think at all before they act.
