Crewe Lyceum Theatre has re-opened in time to celebrate its 110th birthday.
And bosses at the historic venue are planning a year of projects and events to mark its rich cultural heritage.
Highlights throughout the year include monthly promotions, trips down memory lane and activities designed to encourage customers past and present, to share their fondest memories of visiting the Grade II listed Edwardian theatre.
Crewe Lyceum Theatre Director Adam Knight said: “Crewe Lyceum has a rich history and our re-opening and 110th birthday are the perfect opportunity to celebrate the stories and successes that place our theatre at the very heart of our community and confirms our status as a much-loved venue on the UK theatre scene.
“I grew up watching some of the fantastic productions created at the Lyceum by English Touring Theatre including Alan Cumming’s Hamlet, Kelly Hunter in As You Like It and Andrew Lincoln in Jonathan Harvey’s Hushabye Mountain.
“I am proud that we are continuing to play our part in creating opportunities for local people and emerging professionals to make and create work on our stage.
“From our resident companies Dope Male Performance Company, Platform Theatre and Forest Tribe, to the Lyceum Choir, our Young Ambassadors and the National Theatre Connections Festival – the Lyceum is excited to be back and looking forward to our next 110 years!”
The 12-month celebrations will feature alongside a packed programme of entertainment already planned this year.
This includes its Christmas panto Sleeping Beauty, starring Bobby Davro, Amelia Lily and Malcolm Lord, as well as newly announced smash-hit Drag Murder Mystery Death Drop – direct from the West End.
Also, Olivier award-winning comedy-drama The Rise and Fall of Little Voice will be staged at the Lyceum.
Crewe Lyceum Theatre, established in 1911, is currently operated by HQ Theatres & Hospitality – part of Trafalgar Entertainment Group – on behalf of Cheshire East Council.
