Nantwich para-athlete Andrew Small ill be going for gold in the T33 100m finals tomorrow in the Paralympics in Tokyo.

The former South Cheshire College student, of Park Road, will be racing at around 10.30am (local time), which is 2.30am UK time.

Andrew, 28, won bronze in the same event in Rio in 2016 as well as at the 2017 World Championships in London.

He went one better with a silver at the World Championships in Dubai in 2019.

Small and fellow Brit Harri Jenkins are among favourites to land medals, but Kuwait’s Ahmad Almutairi is favourite for gold, according to BBC Sport.

Andrew, whose impairment is the result of nerve damage that affects him both neurologically and physically, started his para-athletics career in 2013.

The Stockport Harriers club athlete said he was inspired to take up the sport while watching the Paralympic Games in London in 2012.

“I was inspired by 2012 and I managed to get last-minute tickets to the Thursday night session of the athletics.

“I saw David Weir and Hannah Cockroft win their medals there.

“You couldn’t help but get swept up in that atmosphere. It left me wanting to be part of history, culturally and nationally.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Andrew many congratulations on your Medal. Hope you enjoyed the experience.
It is sad that the BBC did not use their overnight closed channels BBC2 and 4 to show the Olympic Games and especially our athletes. They can’t blame cost when they pay so called “talent” £1million plus per year. Poor show BBC.
Excellent show from ALL our Athletes at both events.
