Dear Editor,

Minshull Vernon and District Parish Council have put the petition below on the Cheshire East website.

We are urging all residents to sign the petition, to show the Borough Council that they want their overwhelming democratic vote, to save their Parish Council from abolition, to be honoured.

We the undersigned petition the Borough Council to remove their proposals to abolish the Leighton and Woolstanwood Parishes and merge the Minshull Vernon Parish, from their next consultation.

In the three Parish Polls on the 10/6/21, residents voted by massive majorities against the changes proposed by the Cheshire East Council.

In Leighton, 98% voted against abolition. In Woolstanwood 97% voted against abolition. In Minshull Vernon, 68% voted against merger with the Church Minshull Parish Council.

Despite this, the Borough Council are now proposing to have yet another consultation.

We call on the Borough Council to remove their proposals to abolish the Leighton and Woolstanwood Parishes and merge the Minshull Vernon Parish, from their next consultation and to honour the overwhelming outcome of the Parish Polls.

The residents of Leighton, Woolstanwood and Minshull Vernon have resoundingly rejected the abolition of their Parish Council, in three Parish Polls.

The Borough Council should accept these overwhelming democratic votes and withdraw their plans to abolish the Parish Council.

The e-Petition runs from 24/08/2021 to 24/09/2021

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
