Dear Editor,
In the three Parish Polls on the 10/6/21, residents voted by massive majorities against the changes proposed by the Cheshire East Council.
In Leighton, 98% voted against abolition. In Woolstanwood 97% voted against abolition. In Minshull Vernon, 68% voted against merger with the Church Minshull Parish Council.
Despite this, the Borough Council are now proposing to have yet another consultation.
The Minshull Vernon and District Parish Council have now emailed their four Borough Councillors and two MPs asking them to write to the Borough Council to ask them to remove the proposals from the consultation in regard of their Parish Council and to honour the overwhelming outcome of the Parish Polls.
The two Borough Councillors for Woolstanwood have done as requested but the other two Borough Councillors and the two MPs are refusing to commit to stand up for their residents.
We are asking our local residents to e-mail [email protected] (Minshull Vernon) [email protected] (Leighton and Woolstanwood) [email protected] (Leighton) and [email protected] (Minshull Vernon) to ask them to do the right thing and to formally write
to the Borough Council to ask them to withdraw the Minshull Vernon and District proposals from their consultation and for the Borough Council to honour the Parish Polls.
Yours faithfully
Cllr Brian Silvester
Communications Officer
Minshull Vernon and District Parish Council
It’s almost as if they are going to ask for consultations until they get the result they want.
