The busy A530 Whitchurch Road near Nantwich is to be closed for up to eight days for major canal bridge repairs.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the route and follow diversions between July 31 and August 8.

The closure will be between the turn off for Coole Lane to Sound in the Baddington area.

Cheshire East Highways say this is to “enable us to carry out structural improvement on the canal bridge and surfacing works”.

The alternative diversion route will be via Audlem village.

Drivers would need to take Shrewbridge Road, Park Road, Audlem Road, Broad Lane, Crewe Road, Cheshire Street, Shropshire Street, Whitchurch Road and visa versa.

A traffic closure order from Cheshire East Council says “it is anticipated that the works will be completed by Sunday August 15 2021”.

Motorists with inquiries relating to the works can contact Cheshire East Highways on 0300 123 5020.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

I presume this is a joke with Audlem Proms in the way of the diversion?
