commissioner - david keane, cheshire police and crime commissioner

A search has been launched to find the new Chief Constable of Cheshire Police.

The top job will be vacant this year after current post-holder Darren Martland announced his retirement before Christmas.

Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) David Keane has launched a recruitment drive.

He says he is looking to recruit a “high-performing chief officer” with a “passion for providing a visible police service”.

PCC Keane said: “At Cheshire Constabulary, we have committed to developing a truly local community policing model that puts residents at the heart of the service.

“The incredible work of our dedicated workforce and volunteers has been recognised in the consistent positive ratings from Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabularies and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS).

“This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about leading a police service based in the heart of its communities and that instils confidence in its residents.

“I want to work with our new chief constable to build on the strong foundations established under the leadership of outgoing chief constable, Darren Martland.

“The successful applicant will also have the necessary skills and experience to work within the complex and challenging environment in which modern day policing operates.

“This will include driving forward innovation and partnership working and to embed a problem-solving ethos when it comes to tackling the priority issues in each of our communities.

“I also need a chief constable who is able to deliver an effective police service within the increasingly challenging economic environment we face.

“I look forward to working with the new chief constable to ensure Cheshire remains one of the safest counties in the country.”

Applicants will face a recruitment process to include an interview with a panel made up of representatives from partner organisations across the county.

The appointment of the new Chief Constable will be subject to a confirmation hearing in front of Cheshire’s Police and Crime Panel.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Sunday January 31, 2021.

The application pack for the role is now available on the Cheshire PCC website https://www.cheshire-pcc.gov.uk/

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
