Royal Arcade being demolished in Crewe - future high streets

Crewe & Nantwich MP Kieran Mullan has welcomed more than £14 million of Future High Streets Fund money for Crewe.

The Government has announced a multi million pound investment as part of its attempt to “level up” across the country.

In total, £830 million from the Future High Streets Fund will be invested in 72 areas across England.

It is designed to transform struggling high streets in towns like Crewe into vibrant hubs for future generations and to protect and create thousands of jobs.

Crewe will receive £14,148,128 from the fund, putting it in the top 20 of places set to receive funding.

Dr Mullan said: “This government has places like Crewe & Nantwich front and centre now.

“People are going to see the difference, they are going to see what it means and what they voted for led to change.

“This funding is just the start.

“I am ambitious for what we will get from the Town Deal fund as well as the whole Town Board has been working very hard on the application we will put in.

“When Crewe thrives the whole area thrives, everyone benefits in terms of jobs and infrastructure and things for people to do. This is good news all round.”

Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick MP said: “This Conservative Government is determined to invest in places like Crewe and that is just the first stage of us doing exactly that.

“We are working with Kieran to make sur Crewe gets the support it needs.

“I know Kieran has been working hard with the Crewe Town Board to secure even more funding for Crewe as part of its Town Deal and we look forward to seeing the plans they will put forward.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
