The launch of the Weston Christmas Lights “Drive Thru” has been so popular it’s caused traffic queues.

Local officers had to help with traffic control as cars queued all the way back down Jack Lane.

PCSO Lizzie Jolley said: “We helped to ensure roads were safe in Weston with traffic control.

“We are politely asking that you please do not block the main road with queuing and come back at a later point in the evening if the traffic reaches the top of the drive way.

“This is to ensure that emergency vehicles and local residents can access their village.”

The annual display has raised more than £120,000 over the past eight years, organised by Graham Witter and his family in memory of his sister Jessica who died at a young age.

They have once again transformed their family farm into a magical Winter Wonderland with thousands of twinkling lights and decorations, to raise money for The Donna Louise Hospice.

And due to Government COVID restrictions, it has been turned into a drive-thru event so visitors can enjoy this year’s #StarlitGarden from the safety of their car.

Graham was recently named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2020 and he received the British Empire Medal for his services to charitable fundraising and to the community in Crewe.

For the first time, he has introduced a #NameAStar initiative which sees 150 personalised, handmade stars displayed around his 20ft lit Christmas Tree, each containing the name of someone special from the local community.

The stars can be collected from the farm on January 16 as a lasting memory from this year’s Winter Wonderland.

The Weston Light Display will shine bright until Monday December 28 from 6.15pm-9pm at Carters Green Farm, Jack Lane, Weston.

Graham Witter said: “After such a difficult and challenging year for so many families and children across our community, I would like to invite everybody along to support this year’s fundraising efforts.

“My ambition is to bring festive sparkle, cheer and happiness to the very heart of our community this December and to give each and every person a positive memory this year.

“I’d encourage you to kindly spread the news far and wide about our 2020 drive-thru event and encourage people to have their own special socially distanced #SantaWave this December from the safety of their own car.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
