Staff and pupils at Malbank School in Nantwich are celebrating GCSE successes of its year 11 students.

Despite the difficult and chaotic circumstances, the school says many of its pupils have gained excellent grades to continue on to A levels or apprenticeships.

Headteacher Jeanette Walker said they provided lots of evidence on the progress they had made throughout their five years at Malbank.

She added: “When the school had to close we were devastated that our students would be denied the opportunity to show their talents.

“Being able to share in their successes today has gone someway to make up for this.

“Having supported students on every step of their journey we are very proud of how they have coped with this very challenging situation and would like to wish all of them well.

“We are looking forward to welcoming many of them back in September as they join our Sixth Form College.”

Head of Upper School Chris Yew said: “It’s great to see students do well, especially when they have worked so hard but we are just as proud of how they have developed as people particularly in these very unusual times.

“We are confident that they will go on and make great contributions to their communities.”

Lots of students gained the top grade 9s including Poppy Bellingham who got nine grade 9s, Kathryn Stewart with 8 and James Glass with 6.

Mr Yew added: “Whilst it is lovely to see students gaining the top grades, we are just as delighted for those students who have shown resilience in really difficult personal circumstances and been able to make great progress since they started at the school.”

Stacey Falamarzi, Director of the Sixth Form College, added: “Students will be able to register for our sixth form courses on Wednesday September 2, between 9am and 3pm.

“Given the national circumstances surrounding the GCSE grades this year, we will be happy to talk to students about our entry requirements.”

Any interested students should contact Mr Falamarzi on [email protected] or Mrs Batty on [email protected]

The results come a week after the school celebrated A level results amid confusion of how they were calculated.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
