Protesters are planning a demonstration in Nantwich town centre calling for better pay nurses and allied health care workers.

The protest on August 30 is being organised by the “United We Stand Divided We Fall” group which recently held demonstrations in Liverpool and other UK cities.

Protesters are being urged to join the demonstration which organisers say will begin at 12pm after church service has ended.

Chants and speeches will be given by various nurses unions, as well as former Crewe & Nantwich Labour MP Laura Smith.

Collection buckets will be circulating for donations towards Georgy’s Fight, raising funds towards lifesaving treatment in Asia for Wistaston youngster Georgy Capener who is fighting Ewings Sarcoma.

A spokesperson for United We Stand Divided We Fall group said: “It is a peaceful protest about getting a payrise.

“In 2018, the Unions signed us up for Agenda for Change, but this has only ever seen pay cuts.

“This deal is up for review in 2021, then Covid-19 happened.

“Our unions had called for this contract to be reviewed sooner but it’s fallen upon deaf ears and we are being ignored.

“This is not acceptable and it’s time to show the public exactly what is going on and to say to Prime Minister Johnson and his cabinet enough is enough!”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

  1. They signed a 3 year deal of pay rises to cover the current period. What are they moaning about now

  2. Signed a 3 year agreement should stick with this
