Nantwich Market - March 2020 - exterior (3) (1)

Stallholders on Nantwich Market are remaining open as most of the town shuts down in the face of the growing Coronavirus crisis, writes Jonathan White.

The indoor market also has a number of stalls outside the main market hall at the junction of Market Street and Churchyardside.

Visitors respected social distancing rules during the COVID-19 pandemic to shop in the centre of the town.

Some stallholders have chosen to close, but most remain open.

The market stocks an array of goods including fresh produce and household items.

Normal opening times are Tuesdays 9am-1pm, Thursdays 9am-3pm and Saturdays 9am-4pm.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

  1. Kristina Marriott says:

Why is market opening 2and of June when loads of people are still dying each day should be still locked down

  2. I agree, close it, the stalls are too close together and obviously people do not understand what 2 metres means.

  3. Shut it. People are not behaving with any sense. It is too risky to leave the market open.

  4. Judging by the photograph, social distancing is not being observed.

People really need to listen and take notice of the advice about social distancing, it is the best way to prevent the spread of the virus.

    Stay safe everyone.
