Wickstead Arms pub, Nantwich

The popular Wickstead Arms pub in Nantwich town centre is to close during the Coronavirus crisis.

Landlady Emma Griffiths made the decision today, as pubs, clubs, coffee shops and restaurants decide if they can stay open despite Government advice.

Emma said: “After a lot of thought and emotion I have decided to close our doors until further notice due to the impact of the Coronavirus.

“This has been an extremely difficult decision but I wanted to put the health and safety of our staff and customers first.

“I’d like to thank you all for supporting us over the past five years.

“This has allowed us to grow into a successful community pub that is focused on employing local loyal staff, serving quality beer, fresh home cooked meals in friendly, comfortable and clean surroundings.

“I will open our doors again when it is safe to do so and I’m confident our staff, our customers and the community in our beautiful town of Nantwich are safe and well. Looking forward to welcoming you all back soon.”

Other pubs and venues in Nantwich have posted messages on social media saying they will remain open until ordered to close.

Some are providing alternative services such as food/meals delivery to homes.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

See you when we get the all clear

  4. A brave and sensible move from Emma, and others in the town would do well to think seriously about staying open. As each day goes by it is clear that social distancing is going to be crucial to making this epidemic a short sharp shock to us all. If anyone disagrees with me, the Wickstead is my local so I am sharing the pain as well.
