Showtime - Crewe Lyceum Theatre, to stage a wedding fayre, and summer events

Live shows at Nantwich Players and Crewe Lyceum have all been postponed amid the Coronavirus crisis.

Civic Comedy shows at Nantwich Civic Hall have also been postponed in April and May.

All three organisations announced last night that they would close until further notice.

A spokesperson for Crewe Lyceum Theatre said: “In response to the Prime Minister’s statement advising that people should avoid non-essential contact with others; all events and shows from Tuesday 17 March 2020 in our venue are suspended.

“We appreciate this will be disappointing news, but hope customers will understand the unprecedented nature of the current circumstances.

“Ultimately the health and wellbeing of all is the most important consideration at this time.

“We will be posting further statements over the coming days about the status of forthcoming shows.

“Where performances do not proceed we will make contact with customers at the appropriate time to advise on the next steps.

“We would ask all customers to refrain from contacting the Box Office unless absolutely necessary to do so.

“Please be assured that we are working as quickly as possible to understand the implications and to put appropriate steps in place.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time.”

Nantwich Players have also announced they are postponing all performances at their Love Lane theatre from today.

In a statement, they said: “Due to the escalation of this public health emergency and in response to the Prime Minister’s statement advising that people should avoid non-essential contact with others; all events and shows from Tuesday 17 March 2020 at Nantwich Players Theatre are now postponed.

“We appreciate this will be disappointing news, and we are postponing productions with a heavy heart, but hope everyone will understand the unprecedented nature of the current circumstances.

“Ultimately the health and well-being of all our volunteers, members, patrons and our community are the most important consideration at this time.

“We will be posting further statements and updates over the coming days about the status of forthcoming shows and we will be back soon.

“We thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time.”

Nantwich “Very Best in Stand Up” live comedy shows scheduled for April 3 and May 1 are also off.

A spokesman said: “It is to be expected under the current circumstances, but we regret there will be no Very Best In Stand Up on April 3rd or May 1st.

“With the government advice to stay away from bars, clubs and theatres, it is important we relay the cancellation in good time, especially when we consider where the curve of COVID-19 will potentially be in the next couple of weeks.

“We apologise for any disappointment, look after one another and we hope to be back in June.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
