A couple found dead in a fire at a bungalow in Nantwich have been named by police as Beryl and Peter Cooper.

Beryl, 80, and Peter, 82, were found unresponsive inside the Mount Close property by fire crews.

Cheshire Police and Cheshire Fire Service are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire which happened on Sunday (February 9).

Three fire appliances from Nantwich, Audlem and Tarporley were called to the scene at around 9am.

A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said today: “The fire is not being treated as suspicious but a joint investigation into the cause and circumstances remains in place.

“Two people found unresponsive inside the property and sadly pronounced dead at the scene have been formally identified as Beryl Cooper, (80), and Peter Cooper, (82).

“Their family are being supported by officers from Crewe LPU.”
