Bunbury Aldersey CE Primary school has been rated as “good” by Ofsted in its first inspection since becoming part of the Rural Church Schools Academy Trust in 2017.

The school, inspected in January under the new Ofsted framework, was rated outstanding in three out of the five categories.

Outstanding judgements were awarded for the Early Years Provision, Behaviour and Attitudes and Personal Development from the inspection.

Bunbury Aldersey CE Primary School, on School Lane, was deemed a “happy place to work and learn” with “staff having high expectations of all pupils regardless of their background”, according to the report.

Lessons were described as “fun and engaging” and pupils were “excited to learn and want to do well”.

Praise was given to the school for the outstanding attitudes of pupils towards their learning and their behaviour.

The report says: “Leaders have designed a well-thought out curriculum from early years to Year 6, which meets the needs and interests of pupils.

“The consistent approach to develop pupils’ writing skills is strong and effective.

“Pupils achieve well in mathematics. Teachers are confident and skillful in teaching mathematics at all Key Stages.”

The report adds: “Leaders support pupils’ personal development exceptionally well.

“Pupils commented to the inspectors that they felt safe and well cared for in the school and that bullying was not tolerated.

“When it does happen, staff deal with this well. The parents who made their views known to inspectors believe that bullying is dealt with well.

“Pupils develop sound and caring attitudes towards each other and the world in which they live.”

bunbury aldersey ofsted pupilsPrincipal Nic Badger said: “We are absolutely thrilled with our report.

“The staff and pupils have worked so hard over the last few years to ensure the provision at Bunbury Aldersey CE school is the best it can be for all children.

“To achieve an ‘outstanding’ in 3 out of 5 categories is a huge achievement, and it’s a testament to everyone’s hard work.

“I would like to thank the supportive parents, governors, directors and wider community who support our work in school.”

The school was last inspected in January 2016 when it was removed from special measures after a period of 11 months.

It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
