Nantwich Players will be staging their first play of 2020 next month, called “Honour” by Joanna Murray-Smith.

“Honour” is described as a frank, honest, play that cannot fail to move anyone who has ever put their trust in another human being.

It tells the story of George and Honor who have been happily married for 32 years.

They have a perfect understanding of each other until a beautiful female journalist, sent to profile columnist George, methodically sets out to challenge that understanding.

With love, hope and raw emotion, “Honour” tells a tale of thoughtless conceit from the perspective of the three women involved.

“Honour” was first performed in Melbourne on November 14 1995 and has since been performed in more than three dozen countries, including on Broadway and in the West End, to critical acclaim.

John MacKay, Director, said: “Though we’re in the fairly early stages of rehearsal for our production of Honour, the cast and I are really enjoying the play’s witty, scintillating dialogue, counterpointed by its often intense emotions.

“Their rawness and poignancy rises to the surface as we delve ever more deeply into the characters’ relationships. It’s an exhausting but rewarding process!

“And what if the truth is that we do not know love because we do not know how to deny ourselves anything?

“Bracingly honest and deeply moving.”

Performances will be at 7.45pm on February 7-15 (excl Sunday).

Tickets are £9 and will be on sale from Nantwich Tourist Office (01270 600727) or online at www.nantwichplayers.com from Tuesday January 14 at 9am.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
