ditch - Cheshire Fire and Rescue from Audlem Fire Station displayed a full size fire appliance

Six people escaped as fire crews battled a blaze in a three-storey building containing multiple flats in Crewe.

Two were treated at the scene of the fire on Edleston Road which broke out shortly after midday yesterday (January 1)

Two appliances attended from Crewe and one from Nantwich.

They responded to reports of a fire in the ground floor landing of a three-storey Victorian building containing multiple flats.

Crews used six breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and a covering jet to put out the fire.

They used a thermal imaging camera to monitor temperatures and a large fan to disperse smoke.

Two were treated for smoke inhalation and four others were checked over as a precaution.

Crews were at scene for around two hours and 20 minutes.

An investigation into the cause of the fire has taken place.

Cheshire fire and rescue say the fire is believed to have been started accidentally via discarded smoking materials.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
