Former SAS leader, sniper and TV’s most experienced and highest ranking “real life hero” Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham is coming to Crewe Lyceum to share stories about his incredible life.

Awarded an MBE for leading a hostage rescue mission, Billy has also received the Queen’s Commendation for Bravery, leading countless successful missions across the world.

He comes to Crewe Lyceum Theatre this Saturday (November 30) for an evening of inspirational stories, as well as giving the audience the chance to ask questions and even meet him after the show.

Billy served in the Parachute Regiment from 1983-1991 before joining the Elite Special Forces (SAS) where he displayed expert skills in planning and executing strategies.

He was at the forefront of training programmes in Iraq, Afghanistan, South America, and Africa, and has also worked in counter terrorism and acted as a patrol medic and trauma life support agent.

Having worked as a bodyguard to the stars, his impressive ‘A list’ of celebrity clientele includes Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Russell Crowe, Sir Michael Caine and Tom Cruise.

In more recent years, he has been one of the stars of the rugged Channel 4 show SAS: Who Dares Wins, and this week he will be joined in Crewe by his friend and Endurance (Running) World Record Breaker Mark Llewhellin.

Billy said: “The UK tour so far has been incredible.

“Every town and audience is different but all the people we have met have been brilliant.

“I’ve even had people come who I’ve known from my days in the Army so it’s been like a little reunion.

“I’m really looking forward to coming to Crewe as I’ve never been and I’m interested in hearing some of the questions the audience may ask.”

Billy says he doesn’t ‘glorify’ any of his stories and ‘tells it how it is’.

He said: “People are curious and do ask quite hard-hitting questions – some of which I do choose not to answer – but generally the audience is very respectful about their line of questioning.

“The questions are usually things like what has been your saddest moment? How do you deal with losing people close to you?

“In some circumstances it’s even been random and as obscure as what my favourite sandwich filling is? It just depends on the audience.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
