England’s Rugby World Cup star Tom Curry is the perfect role model for Crewe and Nantwich RUFC’s junior players, club bosses have said.

Curry and his twin Ben were both juniors at the Vagrants club before being snapped up by Sale Sharks.

The brothers have continued to revisit their old club where they learned their trade and help inspire the next generation of mini and junior rugby players.

But out in Japan, down-to-earth Tom has been in the headlines for stellar performances in the England shirt during victories over Australia and New Zealand.

Many believe the 21-year-old has been the player of the tournament.

Crewe and Nantwich club chair Nik Joyce said: “Tom is a real role model for all our budding rugby players at Crewe and Nantwich RUFC.

“It gives all the mini and junior boys and girls something to aim for knowing that someone who has worn our black and white kit now wears the kit with the English Rose on it.”

Lewis Gow, who plays for U13s (pictured above with Tom and Ben Curry) said: “They are an inspiration, if they can make so can I!”

Alana Gauntlett, U18s Girls, said: “Tom is only a few years older than me.

“He has inspired me as a player to play to the best of my abilities and know that I can go far within my rugby career – one day I will be in a white shirt with a red rose!”

Nik said the clubhouse where it all started for Tom will be bursting at the seams on Saturday morning.

“As we all settle down with bacon butties to watch Tom in the World Cup Final, we couldn’t be any prouder of him,” she added.

Tom’s brother Ben is flying out to join their dad David, also a former Crewe and Nantwich player, mum and other family members in Japan to watch the final.

England take on South Africa, kick off 9am on Saturday.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
