Police hunt BMW driver who targeted girl, aged 15

Police are searching for a BMW driver who attempted to drag a 15-year-old girl into his car in Crewe.

The girl managed to scramble clear after a member of the public rushed to help her.

Officers appealing for witnesses say the incident happened on Richard Moon Street in Crewe this morning (September 25) at around 8.20am

The 15-year-old girl was walking along the street when a black BMW pulled up at the side of the road.

The driver opened the passenger door from inside.

He initially asked the girl for directions, before attempting to pull her into the car.

A member of the public who was walking nearby stopped to help and the man then drove off towards Goddard Street.

The incident was reported to police a short time later.

The driver is described as white, in his 30s with a bald head.

He was wearing a short sleeve blue Nike T-shirt and grey jogging bottoms, he also had a nose piercing.

Detective Sergeant Dave Jarvis, of Crewe CID, said: “Thankfully the girl was not injured, but has been left very shaken by what happened.

“Understandably, the incident will cause concern in the local community, but I would like to reassure residents that we are doing all that we can to establish what has taken place and to trace the man.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and I’m particularly keen to speak to the person who stopped at the side of the road to help the girl.

“I also want to hear from anyone who was driving past at the time and has seen anything significant or knows the identity of the driver of the black car.”

DS Jarvis added: “I would urge people in the area to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity.

“We have additional patrols out and about to provide reassurance to the local community and if you have any concerns please speak to an officer.”
