Wybunbury Tower was open during their annual free Heritage event.
Heritage Open Days is England’s biggest free heritage festival.
Visitors could climb 96 feet to the top of the leaning tower on Main Road – all that remains of the Grade II listed 15th century Church of St Chad – to take in magnificent views of South Cheshire and beyond.
En route up to the top of the tower visitors could see the mezzanine floor, Ringing Chamber, Bell Chamber, and Clock Chamber before emerging onto the roof.
The tower is owned and run by the Wybunbury Tower Preservation Trust.

I have been wanting to see the inside of the tower for some time. I found the website which told me nothing. I googled for Cheshire East and Cheshire West Heritage Days in July and found nothing. I decided to come “on spec” tomorrow, Saturday, so I had a quick look on line and discovered that I had missed it. Will you be opening the tower again this year.
I am studying Thomas Pennant’s book “A Journey from Chester to London” published in 1782. In the book, he describes Wybunbury Church and its monuments. I am interested to learn which of them have survived. I know that one is in Nantwich Church.
