tea at the tower in Acton

‘Tea at The Tower’ guided circular walks are being staged from St Mary’s Church in Acton, writes Jonathan White.

The walks are chosen to be good underfoot, do not involve climbing fences and are circular country walks of two hours and four miles.

Their route is through beautiful Cheshire countryside involving paths within the Dorfold estate and adjacent to the Shropshire Union Canal.

The lead walker will match the pace to the groups level of general fitness.

All walks start from St Mary’s Church, Acton at 1pm.

The future dates are Sunday 8th September, Sunday 22nd September, Sunday 13th October, Sunday 10th November, Sunday 8th December, Sunday 12th January 2020, Sunday 9th February and Sunday 8th March.

All are welcome. Donations are gratefully received.

‘Tea at The Tower’ also stages a weekly community café where drinks and cakes are served (donations are gratefully received) every Sunday afternoon (2.30-4.30pm) throughout the year at St Mary’s.

Visitors can also enjoy guided tours up the church tower as far as the ringing chamber.

Since the cafe opened two and a half years ago it has welcomed 5,500 visitors, served 11,000 drinks and 5,500 cakes and led 1,100 guided tours up the church tower.

A representative from ‘Tea at The Tower’ said: “Tea at The Tower has become bedded into our local culture and has become much valued by the community we serve.

“The walkers always return very happy and ready for some refreshments which include our delicious cakes.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
