After long delays, traffic lights have finally been installed and activated at the A530 (Middlewich Road)/Wistaston Green Road junction, along with the resurfacing of a short section of Wistaston Green Road, in Wistaston.
Hopefully, this will assist towards making the busy and notoriously dangerous A530 a safer road.
However, despite these recent roadworks the resurfacing on Wistaston Green Road has only included a short section from the new lights to a few metres beyond Brydson Crescent – the entrance to the new Bellway ‘Kingfisher Reach’ housing development.
Therefore, the road surface from near the Brydson Crescent junction to Golden Jubilee Bridge on Wistaston Green Road is still in a state of disrepair and I have evidenced potholes, ruts, mud, a ditch and a concealed entrance.
There is also still no pavement between these two points along this section of road, although I accept there is the ‘Wonderful Wistaston’ off-road path close by.
Phase 1 of houses on ‘Kingfisher Reach’ are sold out with Phase 2 released for sale and the first householders have also moved into the nearby Bloor Homes ‘Wistaston Brook’ housing development, so there are already additional vehicles on this section of road, along with the continuation of heavy construction vehicles leaving and entering ‘Kingfisher Reach’.
On completion both new housing estates will add hundreds of extra vehicles to the village.

I hope that this section of Wistaston Green Road is resurfaced in the immediate future as otherwise I am very fearful it will cause an accident.
