mrn-nathan-gorman - sad over Tyson Fury demise

Nantwich boxing star Nathan Gorman says he is “100%” fully prepared for his eagerly-anticipated British heavyweight showdown with Daniel Dubois.

And that’s despite Gorman’s preparations disrupted by having his two-year-old son in hospital seriously ill, and the birth of his daughter just this week!

The 23-year-old – cousin of former World Heavyweight champ Tyson Fury – is unbeaten 16-0 in his professional career, but faces his toughest test at the O2 Arena on Saturday (July 13).

Both fighters are tipped as potential world champions in the future, with Dubois 11-0 unbeaten with 10 knockouts, at the age of just 21.

Many see it as a battle between the skilled boxing and movement of Gorman and the powerhouse punching of Dubois.

And it’s well documented that the pair do not get on outside the ring, having been part of the same GB squad five years ago and having trained and sparred together over many rounds.

nathan-gorman-with-trainer-ricky-hattonGorman, 6ft 3in who is trained by Ricky Hatton, said at his BT Sport conference yesterday (July 11): “Obviously with my boy having a cyst in his chest, I was still training even at the hospital running around the car park!

“My mind was still on the job. My mind is 100% fully focused on Saturday night, I have a job to do and there are no excuses from me.

“Every run has been run, every session has been done – no stone has been left unturned. I’m fully fit and ready to go.

“People are in for a great fight. Our styles will clash, when we meet in the ring we’re in for a big night.

“A lot of water has gone under bridge since we were amateur boxers back then.”

Dubois, 6ft 5in, added: “It’s been weeks of hard training and I’m just glad we’re going to get it on.

“I’m going to come hard and fast and put it all on the line.”

The fight is headline bout on a bill screened live by BT Sport on Saturday July 13. Visit BT Sport to view the full card.

Gorman v Dubois is scheduled to hit the ring from around 10pm.
