Steph Howman - skydive for mental health charity

A client support manager from South Cheshire is taking part in a skydive in aid of local mental health charity, Inner Trust.

Steph Howman will raise funds for the non-profit organisation that aims to make a difference to young people who have mental health challenges or have disabilities that prevent them from achieving their dreams.

The 28-year-old, from Winsford, was inspired to raise money after being introduced to the charity through work and the Cheshire Connect skill sharing initiative.

The initiative encourages local businesses to offer skills for free to charities and not for profit organisations across the region.

Steph, who works for Assurant in Crewe, said: “Throughout my late teens and early 20s, I suffered from anxiety and self-doubt.

“However, in accessing support, I was able to overcome my fears and achieve a lifetime goal of travelling to the US and Bali.

“Two years on, I have decided to challenge myself once more with a skydive.

“I hope to raise £1,000 for this worthwhile charity, which will be matched by my employer, Assurant, up to a value of US $1000.”

Spencer Hickson, from Inner Trust, added: “The funds Steph raises will go towards VR equipment that will allow our users to experience activities they would like to do, but may never experience in reality.

“Things like going on a roller-coaster, flying in a plane or hot air balloon, standing on Everest or at the Grand Canyon, or walking around New York City.

“Steph’s skydive will help change so many lives, giving a truly life changing positive experience.”

Steph has paid an initial £75 towards the skydive.

The remaining £180 will be taken from her fundraising, with all other funds raised going to Inner Trust.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
