Nantwich author Joan Carter will launch her book ‘Life Zumba and Now’ at the Nantwich Bookshop & Coffee Lounge on May 3, writes Jonathan White.

The 83-year-old will give a talk at the launch about her unusual autobiography which begins in the war years in Nantwich.

After witnessing ‘The Darkness’ and ‘The Light’, Joan goes on to consider meditation, theatre, mysticism, space and time, spirituality, philosophy, death, love and hope as she faces questions about Life, the Universe and Everything.

Denise Lawson, from the Nantwich Bookshop & Coffee Lounge, said: “Joan is a really colourful character who doesn’t really need us to sell her book for her, she does a grand job herself.

“It would be lovely to see as many people from Nantwich support this lovely local Cheshire lady at her book launch on 3rd May.”

Other future author events at the Nantwich Bookshop & Coffee Lounge include Friday April 19 when Linda Wall, author of “Around the World in 575 Songs” series, will talk about her four years gathering traditional music from every country in the world from Kazakhstan to Kiribati.

She researched the life and culture of these countries and weaved the music in with information, stories and reflections about each country.

Tickets are £7.50 per person which includes snacks and a £2.50 discount upon book purchase.

Cash bar. Doors open 6:30pm for a 7pm start.

On Friday May 17, local author Robert Howe will launch his new book “A short life on the ocean wave”.

Robert’s time in the Merchant Navy gave him a wealth of experiences and took him around the world.

He saw some of Africa and Hong Kong when they were still British Protectorates and South Africa under apartheid.

He has had such diverse occupations as a cook at a London hospital to serving the Diplomatic Corp.

This, his fourth book, follows on from his memoir “I’ll give it six months” and covers his time in the Merchant Navy.

A rare look at life at sea in the 60s.

Now retired, he lives near Chester with his wife Linda Fraser-Webb and now only goes to sea as a passenger.

Tickets are £7.50 per person which includes snacks and a £2.50 discount upon book purchase.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
