Organisers of a celebrity boxing night plan to make a dream come true for a little Nantwich girl who cannot walk or talk.
Meghan Kewley, aged seven, will be a VIP guest at the charity event at Nantwich Civic Hall on March 29.
It features boxing heroes Frank Bruno, Tony Bellew, Carl Froch, Tim Witherspoon and Joe Egan.
The night, called The Road to the Ring, is raising money for the Christie Charity and British Heart Foundation and organisers have arranged for Meghan to meet the stars after hearing how she loves to watch boxing on TV.
Through social media, the youngster has got to know local sporting stars and her mum and dad, Mike and Amanda, are collecting pictures of her with them for her bedroom wall.
Mike said: “She knows local boxer Nathan Gorman and footballer Mark Ellis.
“She’s over the moon when they stop to say hello in Nantwich town centre.
“Although she can’t speak we know the happy gurgles she makes and she is thrilled to bits at the prospect of meeting so many famous names.
“Boxing is her favourite thing on TV so for the organisers to invite us as a family along is a kind gesture and one which Meghan will cherish.”
The youngster was born with the neurological disorder gray matter heterotopia, which affects brain functions and causes Meghan seizures.
Former painter and decorator Mike and wife Mandy are full time carers to their daughter who attends Springfield School, Crewe.
Charity night organiser Ken Lawton said: “The Road to the Ring is all about helping people less fortunate and we couldn’t help but be touched by the way Meghan copes with her condition and gets pleasure out of small things like people saying hello.”
The Road to the Ring will see Crewe businessman Ken, 58, and friend Pete ‘Shuff’ Shufflebotham, 51, both former British kickboxing champions, back in the ring for five rounds after more than 25 years.
The night will feature footage of their training over the past few months and interviews with the boxing legends led by SKY sports frontman Johnny Nelson.
Ken, owner of Alpha Omega Securities, added: “We’ve worked hard to make this a night to remember and offer local people a chance to see celebrities in Nantwich.”
Hundreds of tickets have already sold for the evening which also features musical entertainment from glamorous string quartet Stringmania and X Factor opera stars G4.
A few are still remaining. They are £70 seated and £30 standing.
