Nantwich Primary Academy and Nursery has been rated as “Good” by Ofsted inspectors following its latest visit.

The report marks an amazing transformation over the last three years after it was placed in special measures in 2014 under its old name, Wyche Primary School.

The latest Ofsted report describes the school as having gone “from strength to strength over the last two years” and being “transformed – from the fabric of the building to the content of the curriculum – to create a calm, purposeful and exciting school where pupils make good progress and feel safe”.

Inspectors praised Principal Sue Spence who they said “is ably supported by her senior leadership team, governors and leaders from St Bart’s Trust”.

The report adds that she has been “uncompromising in her aim of ensuring that the school caters well for pupils’ educational, social and emotional needs.

“Leaders are achieving this, while simultaneously securing high staff morale and pupils’ effective involvement in their learning.”

Other highlights in the report include:
• Accurate view of the school’s strengths and weaknesses and know what needs to be done to move the school forward.
• Pupils benefit from exciting and carefully planned curriculum. Teachers are careful to make connections between the skills pupils gain in school and their application to the outside world.
• Governors know the school well. Many – including the chair – have an in-depth knowledge of schools and education.
• All staff have good knowledge and understanding of safeguarding matters. They know precisely what to do if a pupil approaches them with a concern relating to their safety or welfare. There is a positive culture of safeguarding in the school. Leaders work effectively with parents and outside agencies to keep pupils safe and secure.
• Teachers and teaching assistants work together to ensure that pupils enjoy learning and make good progress in a wide range of subjects.
• All aspects of leadership and management of early years provision are good. Children learn in well organised and stimulating dedicated areas linked to early years learning.

Inspectors noted that “pupils’ attendance is above average” and that pupils have said learning is “awesome” and they do not want to miss out”.

Sue Spence, Principal at Nantwich Primary Academy and Nursery on Manor Road, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the outcome.

“It reflects the team’s drive and dedication and the great work that takes place here every day!

“I would like to thank the whole team – staff, governors, parents, pupils, volunteers and St Bart’s Trust for their on-going support in making our school the best it can be for all our children.”

Admissions to the school are open and anyone wishing to view the school should contact the office on 01270 685000 or [email protected]

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
