A Crewe & Nantwich fundraising group is appealing for new members to help support the work of Cancer Research UK.

The fundraising group has already raised more than £45,000 in 2018 to help fund its life-saving work.

John Pass, chair of Crewe & Nantwich Fundraising Group, said: “I would like to appeal to people in Crewe and Nantwich to volunteer their time and join the Crewe & Nantwich Fundraising Group.

“This type of fundraising is rewarding in so many ways.

“It is sociable and a great way to meet new people.

“Furthermore, our fundraising efforts contribute directly to helping Cancer Research UK scientists continue their research into the prevention and treatment of cancer.”

Victoria Blackmore, Cancer Research UK’s Local Fundraising Manager for Crewe and Nantwich, said: “The unflinching dedication of the Crewe & Nantwich Fundraising Group to helping Cancer Research UK beat cancer sooner has helped to ensure more men, women and children in Crewe, Nantwich and across the UK survive the disease.

“We are incredibly grateful for their commitment to the cause and hope others will be inspired to join them.

“Cancer Research UK has made enormous progress in the fight against cancer.

“However, we have only been able to do this thanks to the generosity of our volunteers and supporters without whom we would not be able to fund our vital research.”

One in two people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer at some stage in their lives.

But more people are surviving the disease now than ever before.

Cancer survival in the UK has doubled since the early 1970s and Cancer Research UK’s work has been at the heart of that progress.

Today, two in four people survive their cancer for at least 10 years.

Cancer Research UK’s ambition is to accelerate progress so that by 2034, three in four people will survive their cancer for at least 10 years.

Victoria added: “Cancer Research UK receives no government funding for its research.

“Every step we take towards beating cancer sooner relies on every pound donated.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
