There was a fantastic atmosphere at the Lyceum when local group, Curtain Call Productions presented their latest show, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, writes Claire Faulkner.
Directed and choreographed by Joel Montague, the show was bursting with energy and was a joy to watch.
Supported by a huge and talented ensemble, the main cast delivered first class performances.
Gary Jones-McCaw played Caractacus Potts, opposite Siobhan Webb who played Truly Scrumptious.
Both have amazing voices and sounded great in ‘Toot Sweets’ and ‘Doll on a Music Box / Truly Scrumptious.’
Rob Earl was delightful and perfectly cast as Grandpa Potts.
On opening night, the younger members of the cast were outstanding. Lauren Jones played Jemima and Ewan Blud played Jeremy.
There were some priceless comedy moments from the Baron and Baroness, played by Chris Ridge and Tandie Stahl, particularly in the number ‘Chu-chi Face’.
I always enjoy the dance numbers from Curtain Call, and this show didn’t disappoint.
My favourite routines were the ‘Bombie Samba’, and the ‘Ol Bamboo’.
This is a company who put everything in to making great musical theatre, and the production standards were high across all levels.
Music, lighting, costume and staging. Everything was outstanding, and I really enjoyed watching this magical show.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is running at the Crewe Lyceum until November 17.
If you go, I’ll guarantee that you’ll have lots of fun and by the time you leave, you might just believe in a car that can fly.
